The world’s leading NGOs needed to capture the largest public health response in human history — in case anything of that magnitude happens again.

A digital time capsule for the future

After the COVID-19 pandemic was officially declared over, the world’s leading NGOs needed a way to capture the screeds of important, history-defining data they held — in case anything of that magnitude happened ever again.

Working with Daylight, we collaborated with the world’s top scientists, photographers and healthcare workers in some of the hardest-hit places on the planet to gather all the stories and information for this project.

The idea? A Digital time capsule housed in the very mechanism that helped transport the vaccines to those who needed them most: the cold box.

A copy project
like no other.

After developing the creative concept of housing all the data in a digital coldbox, I then had to embark on an enormous copywriting challenge: reading the research and findings from data scientists, frontline healthcare workers, journalists and advocates in some of the most remote places in the world to not only find the stories but develop an information architecture to inform the website wireframe.

On top of that, we worked with data visualisers and animators and went back through the incredible image and film archives to search for the best visuals to tell these stories of human triumph.

Impact

Over 1,000 creative, data and photojournalist contributors are involved.

216 countries and territories represented.

170+ countries reached with this project and these stories, including world leaders, press, and decision-makers of the future.
